Certificate error sending and/or receiving email

If your email client settings are configured for SSL, you may get a certificate related error.

By accident or on purpose, you might check off the setting to send or receive email by SSL in your desktop client settings. If you are not using the generic name of the server, this can cause a certificate validation error, and you might receive a message like:

Mail can’t verify the identify of yourdomain.com

If SSL is selected, either deselect it, or use the generic name of the server. You can find this by logging into Cpanel, clicking the "Email Accounts" icon, and then clicking the "Configure Mail client" icon next to the problem address. Scroll down on the next page until you see the "Manual Settings" title. There you will find the proper settings for SSL.
