What is the process for getting my own SSL secure certificate?
Please read about this process, it has a lot of details!
- Purchase a secure certificate from our partner SustainableDomains.com. We recommend the high assurance certificate
- Let our billing department know that you will need a dedicated IP address. ($4/month)
- Log in to your cPanel and find the security section. Click on the SSL / TLS manager icon.
- Generate a private key. This is also called an RSA key. Skip to the "Generate a new key" section near the bottom of the page. Select your domain name from the drop-down list. Choose a key size of 2048.
- Return to the SSL Manager. Click on Certificate Signing Request (CSR). Fill out the form with your info.
- Login into your SustainableDomains.com account and find the link to "Manage your SSL". Complete the CSR form for steps 1&2 and then copy the CSR code under step 5.
- Log back in to cPanel and click on SSL Manager again. Click on Certificates (CRT) Paste in your certifiate that you got from your certificate vendor.
- Test your certificate by pointing your browser to https://example.com (Replace example.com with your actual domain name)

When copying and pasting the secure certificate and rsa keys, be sure to include the plaintext text line above and below the certificate ciphertext.
